Curtis M. Williams II, Program Director

Curtis M. Williams II is excited to serve in this new role leading the Families to College program. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Africana Studies and a Master of Science in Public Affairs – Community Development from Rutgers University. He also holds a Master of Arts in Humanities and Social Thought from New York University. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. from Rutgers University. Curtis has worked in a number of positions in the youth development and education fields for 13 years and is excited about utilizing his skill set in the Families to College program. Curtis is passionate about helping families accomplish their goals for college and career success!

*Luz Gonzalez, Mentor Manager

Luz Gonzalez is from Vineland NJ. She is proud to be a wife, mother of 2 children and 1 very cute Yorkie. She graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in May 2018 with a Bachelors in Humanities and Minor in Business and has worked with families and children for over 11 years. She is excited to be a new member of the Families to College team. She also enjoys working in groups and brainstorming to hear others’ ideas and thoughts on things and life.

*Bailey Cunningham, Campus Center Coordinator

Bailey graduated Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in composition. She joined the Appel Farm team in 2018 as camp’s Musical Theater Director.

She began teaching in her hometown of Flagstaff, Arizona, and has continued composing, music directing and teaching in Boston and New York City. She worked off-Broadway at Ensemble For The Romantic Century, and locally at Theatrikos Theatre Company, Flagstaff Youth Theater, and Berklee’s Opera Imaginarium. She was a teaching artist with Cultural After School Adventures (CASA) in 2017, and taught piano and voice lessons at Park Slope Music School in 2018. Bailey is excited to support the Families to College program in her role as Campus Center Coordinator.

*Jessica Rivera, Family Advocate

Jessica has held a number of positions in the social services field for 10 years. She is a graduate of Cumberland County College and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Sciences from Wilmington University. An active member of the community, she has also worked as a volunteer helping students learn the English language by guiding them through ESL classes. Jessica loves working with families and is passionate about supporting them as they work toward achieving their goals for college and career!

*Kini Slaughter, Program Assistant

Kini is a proud Atlanta Georgia native.  She graduated from Converse College School of Music with a Bachelor’s degree in Flute Performance.  She is also an alumna of Georgia State University where she received a full graduate assistantship to complete her Masters in Music Performance.

Kini has a passion for the performing arts and has formal training in the theatre arts, dance, vocal music and spoken word poetry.  She has been volunteering and facilitating special events since 2013. Quills ‘n Curls, a biennial event seeks to fuse two of her passions, poetry and the celebration of naturally textured hair.  In her free time, Kini enjoys baking, arts and crafts, and international travel.
